Stand Fall Repeat was recorded in nine days with Jay Bennett (formerly of Wilco) and Alex Moore at Bennett's Pieholden Suite Sound in Chicago, mixed by Chris Fudurich (Nada Surf) and mastered by Trevor Sadler in Milwaukee.

The album's 11 songs feature a warm, melodic, roots-rock style, supported by Michelle's vocal and instrumental background. The album's organic sound was achieved by recording to two-inch tape, avoiding the overuse of hi-tech studio wizardry and by using Bennett's vintage collection of instruments.

In addition to radio play, the album has garnered accolades from fans and critics alike, including the following:

No Depression featured Anthony in its Town and Country section and notes that "Anthony's voice moves with a melodic and emotional sureness thatrecalls early Sarah McLachlan."

The Onion describes the album as "a monstrously self-assured set," with "songs that nod at Aimee Mann and Sheryl Crow."

F5 Weekly Alternative adds, "Had Liz Phair gone to Los Angeles circa 1972 to make a record with Gram Parsons and the members of Sheryl Crow's Tuesday Night Music Club, this might have been the result."

All Music Guide gives the album four stars. "Stand Fall Repeat...offers more of the dark and somewhat dingy country ballads that brings to mind Kathleen Edwards, Allison Moorer or Gillian Welch...It's hard not to like!"

Jason MacNeil of Pop Matters writes, "This record is definitely on par with Crow's The Globe Sessions, which is quite an achievement for a debut!"

"It's polished yet rousing indie country rock, carried up into glory by Anthony's singing," Monica Kendrick, Chicago Reader.

Anthony spent fall 2004 touring in support of the album's release. Notable performances include the prestigious Mountain Stage (as an opener for k.d. lang) and as an opener for Ben Folds in Milwaukee. Tour highlights also include an appearance on WGN-TV Morning Show in Chicago and performances in New York (The Living Room); Los Angeles (Knitting Factory); Austin (Antone's); and Chicago (Schubas).

Songs from the album can be heard in the independent movie "Black Cloud," directed by Rick Schroder (NYPD Blue), and in the DVD winter 2004 releases of Roswell.
